Effigy of Arthur Bernardes (Arthur da Silva Bernardes) – In 1921 he assumed the presidency of the Republic for the four-year period 1922/1926, being the 12th President of the Republic during the period of the Old Republic (1889-1930). During his administration, several revolts broke out, such as the Copacabana Fort and the Prestes Column. In 1926, Arthur Bernardes handed over the presidency to Washington Luís.
